Our Competitive Director

The Competitive Camp Director is the leader responsible for delivering a high-performance training environment for advanced players ages 13–18. This role oversees all aspects of the Pro 11 Competitive Camps, ensuring that every session meets the technical, tactical, and physical standards expected of serious athletes preparing for club, high school, college, or elite-level play.

The Competitive Camp Director designs and executes a structured daily curriculum that includes advanced technical work, position-specific training, speed and agility development, tactical instruction, and competitive game play. They manage and mentor a staff of experienced coaches, ensuring consistent coaching quality across all groups and maintaining a demanding yet supportive atmosphere.

Beyond on-field training, the Director is responsible for player evaluations, leadership development, and communication with families regarding expectations, performance standards, and player growth. They also coordinate video analysis sessions, oversee safety and hydration protocols, and serve as the primary point of contact for camp operations.

What ages can register for the Competitive Camps?

Competitive Camps are designed for players ages 13–18 who want high-intensity training, advanced development, and a more professional training environment.

Who runs the Competitive Camps?

Sessions are designed by founder Kelly Gray, former Major League Soccer professional and MLS Cup winner, and all camps are led by licensed competitive-level coaches, former college players, and instructors who specialize in advanced youth development.

How are players grouped?

Players are grouped by age, competitive level, and position when possible. This ensures that sessions challenge athletes at the right pace while maintaining a high-quality training environment.

Are there evaluations or feedback?

Yes. Coaches provide ongoing verbal feedback throughout the day, and players may receive formal evaluations or constructive notes on technical, tactical, physical, and mental attributes.

What happens in extreme heat or poor weather?

For older athletes, intensity is adjusted to maintain safety while preserving training quality. We add shade breaks, adjust session timing, or shift tactical portions to off-field areas when needed.

Do players need prior experience?

Yes. Competitive Camps are intended for experienced players—those currently playing club, high school, or at an equivalent level. While no tryout is required, players should be comfortable with fast-paced sessions and advanced drills.

What should players bring?

Competitive players should bring:

  • Cleats and shin guards

  • Soccer ball

  • Water bottle

  • Light snack

  • Packed lunch

  • Sunscreen

What is the coach-to-player ratio?

Competitive Camps maintain a low ratio—typically 1 coach for every 10–12 players—to ensure meaningful feedback, positional guidance, and individualized coaching.

Is there a refund or cancellation policy?

Yes. Refunds or credits are available based on our camp policy. Credits may be transferred to future Pro 11 programs if player schedules change.

Is there an opportunity to be selected for the Pro 11 Tournament Team?

Yes. Competitive Camp participants are key candidates for the Pro 11 Tournament Team, which competes in an end-of-summer regional event. Selection is based on attitude, effort, coachability, and performance.
